2009 Buffalo Days: July 29 - August 2

125TH BUFFALO DAYS WRAPS UP
Organizers say 2008 event truly "EX-citing"

Regina, Saskatchewan --- The 125th anniversary of Buffalo Days was a resounding success and a huge celebration of "EX-citement".  The provincial exhibition, which ran from July 30th to August 3rd, wrapped up yesterday with crowds coming down to IPSCO Place to enjoy a pancake breakfast, take in the midway, sample their favorite food, watch Barney Live and catch Weird Al Yankovic at the Molson Canadian Rocks Grandstand.

Neil Donnelly, Vice President of Marketing & Events at IPSCO Place, says the 2008 event is considered to be extremely successful on many fronts.  "Even though the opening day's attendance numbers dipped slightly due to severe weather, the remaining four days were absolutely perfect and attendance numbers not only came back up but were well above last year and the 5 year average. Our total attendance for 2008 was 201,537."

Donnelly says the 125th Anniversary celebration helped drive attendance as many people came down just to experience all the fun and activities that were planned to mark this occasion.  Thursday, July 31st was an exceptionally good day for attendance since this day was set aside to officially recognize Buffalo Days' 125th year.   He adds there was literally something for everyone all five days of the event and says the Grandstand line-up this year helped attract thousands of fair-goers.

"The concert line-up was really solid this year - the Trews, Tom Cochrane with Red Rider, Randy Travis, Theory of A Deadman, and of course Weird Al Yankovic.  Every night, the park was packed and the performers put on absolutely incredible shows.  We had amazing feedback from everyone there."

Donnelly says Buffalo Days really is a great way to spend time with family and friends and that event organizers always keep this uppermost in mind as they're planning the annual event.  Donnelly says plans are already underway for the 2009 Buffalo Days, which will take place July 29th to August 2nd.

Buffalo Days is widely recognized as the provincial exhibition in Saskatchewan.  The five-day event is a production of IPSCO Place, one of the largest and most significant event complexes in Canada.
